You Just Need To Give It To The Lord

Numbers 33:50-55

I would like to share something with you that is making Christians everywhere a little crazy.  Have you ever had a problem that you needed help with as some point in your life?  We all have, haven’t we?  Anybody like that here today?  O.K., and you just couldn’t get the victory over it or it was something that was really bothering you?

Finally, after trying to handle it on your own and failed you muster up enough courage to talke to a fellow Christian about it.  You had been thinking for days on how to bring it up and your opportunity arises and you are really looking for some advice and help.  And so you ask either Sister Susy or Brother Bud for some advice and help.

After spilling your guts for what seemed like an hour, you wind up with, “what do you think I should do?”  A pause seems like an eternity ensues with its accompanying silence, when it is finally broken with Sister Susy or Brother Bud speaks up and says, “Well, I think you just need to give it over to the Lord and your problem will be solved.”

I just need to give it over to the Lord, huh?  That’s all?  Yes, dear, just give it over to him, he’ll take care of it.  O.K., thanks for your help, Sister Susy.  Now, I’m not one to argue with that philosophy, I believe the Lord can solve all of our problems.  But after some scrutiny I believe this answer although it has good intentions, is nothing more than a Christianized cop-out.
