Why Hosanna?

Matthew 21:1-11

Hosanna!  Hosanna to the Son of David!  Hosanna in the highest!  We have been hearing that in Christian circles for generations.  It is amazing to me how God has preserved his word for us throughout all the past generations!  This word we read this morning is so very powerful and so very accurate that we are enriched by its words to this very day.  I am reminded of Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”  The King James Version says it is quick and powerful.  God’s word is a force to be reckoned with.  When he speaks we need to sit up and listen.  With that said, we come to our question, why Hosanna?  What is so important about this word that was shouted that day as Jesus rode into the city of Jerusalem?
