WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?

             There are many things that happen to us in this life for which we can find no answer.  Experiences which we cannot understand baffle us.  There seems sometimes to be no reason or purpose in what has taken place.  In the dark hour of our great loss, when we are sick with loneliness and grief, our hearts literally cry out for an explanation.  And in the silence of those moments we simply ask the question, why?

            In such times as this I believe we can gain some comfort and insight in the words of Jesus which He spoke to His bewildered disciples on the eve of His arrest and crucifixion.  His words speak to us as we are confronted with life's heaviest blows and losses.  They apply to us as we stand bereaved and mystified in the presence of events for which we can find no answer.
