What Makes A Marriage Christian?
Genesis 2:18-25
By Harold D. Dinsmore, M.Div.

Many people have their own ideas about marriage.  Some are always seeking it, others trying to avoid it.  Within marriage, there are those with blissful expressions, while others hate their marriage and are seeking a way out.

I saw a cartoon once where a woman was sitting in front of a marriage counselor.  The caption read, “When I got married, I was looking for an ideal, then it became an ordeal and now I want a new
deal!”
Well, believe that there is not one problem in our marriages that cannot be worked out in the power of the Lord Jesus Christ.

You see, the biblical concept of marriage is set before us in Genesis 2:24.  The two shall become one flesh.  The marriage relationship, as designed by God, is illustrated thus as two people blending together so that they appear as one, but each retains their own unique identity and personality.  So we can actually see marriage as one new life existing in two people.

The world looks at marriage as a contract with an escape clause.
