Vaccinated or Regenerated? Titus 3:5
With the advent of a new school year, parents and children alike are experiencing something everyone in this room has experienced in his or her lifetime. I remember when I was a child getting ready for school and then taking a sugar cube one particular day that had a funny yellow spot in the middle of it. It was good, pure sugar. But little did I realize the years of science and research that had produced the little yellow spot in the middle of it. Of course I am speaking of the polio vaccine. Today our children, have a little vial similar to what I am holding in my hand, in which the vaccine drug is in. The nurse breaks the vial and the drug is given orally. At other times we have experienced the other method of vaccination which is injection. Here we have a syringe. This particular syringe is used in the injecting of insulin which is a life saving drug for diabetics. We do not particularly like the though of needles, let alone the sight of one. I know I don’t. Many life saving drugs have been developed over the years which, when injected into the human body, can prevent the certain onslaught of various diseases. We even make sure our pets are vaccinated against rabies every year. Heck, Bro. Ed had to be vaccinated for rabies last year after his surprise attack from a raccoon on his front porch. I thank God for the sciences and the intelligence he has given people to discover the cures for and inoculations against disease.
However, when it comes to the Gospel and the
spiritual side of the human being, our thought patterns are often
carried over into this realm.
This is where I wanted to ask you to
consider the question posed in the title of today’s sermon.
Vaccinated or Regenerated?
Which are you?
