There Ain't No Easy Horses In Life II Corinthians 5:1-15 A few years ago there was a song on the radio that was pretty popular called “There Ain’t No Easy Horses” by Craig Bickhardt. It went like this, There ain’t no easy horses, But ya got to learn to ride, You may fall you may stumble, Before you hit your stride, Mother earth will catch you, Don’t be afraid to try, There ain’t no easy horses, But you got to learn to ride.”
If there ever was a
song with a lot of truth about life in it, this song surely does.
In our passage before us this morning, II Corinthians 5:1-15, we find a text
that is packed full with excellent truths.
In verse 1-5 we find that life is rough because it says here we
groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly body like unto Christ.
We groan, why? I liken
this to what Jesus said in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so
that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take
heart! I have overcome the world.”
As believers we long to be what God intended us to be. Like unto
Christ. A passage in I John 3:2
puts it this way, “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we
will be has not yet been made known.
But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall
see him as he is.” This brings
up something I bet we have all thought about as a kid or even as adults.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have super-human
powers. Like maybe Superman?
When Christ comes we will see him as he is and will be like him.
He walked through walls, flew off into the heavens and rose from the
dead. We will
be like him. We as a
people of God long to be completed.
To be like what God intended for us to be before man messed
everything all up for themselves in
the Garden of Eden when we disobeyed God and fell from our position of Grace
and Innocence.
