The Everlasting Father
Isaiah 9:6
By Harold D. Dinsmore, M.Div.
Ó2008Harold D. Dinsmore

Genesis 1:1 reads, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”  Verse 26 says, “Then God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion…”  And in verse 27, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them.”

John 1:13 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.”  In verse 14, “And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth.”

Jesus is God.  I believe that statement with all of my heart.  But you know, there are many people, even in some Baptist circles, that question that statement or just plain disagree with it.  Isaiah declared that the child born – the Son to be given--shall be called Everlasting Father!  Jesus was most emphatic on this subject during His earthly ministry.  Often He declared Himself to be one with the Father.
