The Challenge Is Here

Nehemiah 4:6
By Harold Dinsmore, M.Div.

Most you were here awhile back with I spoke on Nehemiah 2:18 and 6:9 entitled, “Strengthen Thou My Hands.”  I have literally been amazed at how you, God’s people, have responded this year for the cause of Christ and have given of your time, your talents and your gifts to the Lord.  You have come together as a unit and performed what God has been asking of all of us to do.  We have come together as I mentioned last week and stopped doing some things, changed a few things and have done new things.

We are including our new members into the body of Christ here at our church.  It is now an awesome thing to see you growing.  I want to continue to encourage you as you grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus and in numbers.   It has been like seeing a child growing up this year.  We needed to stop some things we have been doing like at times not showing the love of God for each other and we need to start doing things like showing the love of God for each other.  Jesus said they will know we are Christians by our love for one another in John 13:35.   You have heard the voice of the Lord and you have responded accordingly.  I am thankful for Christians like yourselves that “have heard the joyful sound, Jesus Saves, Jesus Saves!  For a church our size across the convention, we are showing growth that others are not experiencing.  You my friends have strengthened your hands, and have been faithful unto the Master and God is blessing us as a church because of that faithfulness.

However, in that same book of Nehemiah chapter 4, verse 6, it says, “So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together to half its height.  For the people had a mind to work.”  We have strengthened our hands this past year, but now the challenge is here.  It is time to rise and build the work of the Lord.  Remember my comments last week.  It is time to move to the next level?  It is time.
