Strengthen Thou Our Hands Nehemiah 6:9 The book of Ezra contains the historical account of the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem and the institution of worship and sacrifices. However, the walls surrounding the city remained in ruin. Now enter a man by the name of Nehemiah. Nehemiah was the cupbearer to the king of Persia, namely Artaxerxes. Nehemiah had received the news that the walls of his ancestral home were still in ruins and it grieved him terribly. So much so that the king inquired one day by asking him why the sad face. Anyway, the king gave Nehemiah the task and privilege to go back to Jerusalem and rebuild the walls of the city that had literally sat in ruins for over 130 years.
