Soul What? How many of you have ever heard of soul-winning? How many here today feels they know what that means? Any one kind of hazy about it? Would most of you agree that it is a very important for a church to be evangelistic? What I mean by this is that all of us agree as a group that sharing the gospel with other people is a very important aspect of being a Christian. Right? When I mention soul-winning it is not something that is involved in a contest that one wins. Soul-winning is a very biblical concept that we have attached this title to as some point in the past. Soul-winning is the enacting of what we know as being a witness…we are going beyond just saying something about Jesus or our beliefs. It is sharing the details of what it means to become a Christian. It is going further with the gospel and asking the person if they would like to place their faith and trust in Christ. Soul-winning is really a process. As Bro. Wayne asked last week during the revival, how many of us accepted the Lord as Savior after the first time we heard it? Usually we all hear it multiple time times before we finally believe and trust in Christ for our salvation.
Soul-winning
is taking the message of Christ to those around us.
A very important passage for us to consider today is from Romans
10:9-15. “That if you confess
with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised
him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it
is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
As the Scripture says, Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to
shame. For there is no
difference between Jew and Gentile the same Lord is Lord of all and richly
blesses all who call on him, for, Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord
will be saved. How, then, can
they call on the one they have not believed in?
And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heart?
And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
And how can they preach unless they are sent?
As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good
news!”
