Seeking Straight Answers from God Ezra 8:21 As many of you know I love sports, especially baseball. I enjoy ballgames that are competitive; when each team is battling for a win. What is exciting is when the chips are down, your team is behind and a clutch hitter is needed in the bottom of the ninth to either keep the game alive or to win the ballgame altogether. Many a time I’ve seen players like George Brett or Joe Carter stop up to the plate and come through with a big hit that left the ball park and which won the game for their respective teams. Our church has been presented the opportunity to trust God for a miracle. Last year I shared with you from Nehemiah 2:20. It says, “The God of heaven will make us prosper, and we his servants will arise and build.” In rebuilding the walls in Jerusalem, Nehemiah and the people of Israel faced all kinds of opposition. Resources were few, laborers were limited, and the threat of attack was always a part of reality. But they did not give up. Our church is at a critical place in our life as a church body. It is in the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs, 2 on and we are behind by 2 points. A clutch situation exists. Here is the situation as we face the need for a home run.
