RIGHT VALUES

Matthew 6:19-34

Today we are going to talk about right values.  Jesus spoke of the need for each believer to see life from the viewpoint of right values.  In Matthew 6:19-34, Jesus’ words show his concern that believers allow kingdom values to dictate their sense of what is important.  Like this little girl, her value was to pray every night and include all the girls as well as all the boys.

Value systems vary from person to person in much the same manner as do people’s appreciation of beauty.  Remember the adage that says that beauty is in the eye of the beholder?  Some people believe that good is relative and that life has no moral absolutes.  That kind of thinking can lead to complete social breakdown.  Every person becomes a law unto himself or herself and does what seems right in his or her own eyes.  In fact, Judges 17:6 and Deuteronomy 12:8 talks about this.  If on the other hand, God has established moral and spiritual absolutes, then His values become the guidance system in life for every person.  Jesus affirmed that truth in the Sermon on the Mount.
