Organized for Jesus I Corinthians 14:40
“Let all things be done decently and in order.” Paul had been teaching about tongues and prophesy in chapter 14. But the fact of the matter is that when we come together, we are to have some rules that govern us as a group of believers. Look back at verse 26, “How is it, then, brethren? When you come together, every one of you has a psalm, has a doctrine, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.” Verse 31, “For you may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.” Verse 33, “For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” Verse 40, “Let all things be done decently and in order.” This morning I want us to look at a few principles that concern the church. What does it mean to be a church? Just how do we go about being church? I think it good to learn how to be organized for Jesus. Do we do church the way we have always done it or should be look at doing church God’s way? And just whose church is it anyway? Gods! And by the way, who is building his church? Jesus. Look at the communion table. We have the stones and we have the rock. Which would be the best foundation? A bunch of loosely strewn together stones or the solid bedrock of Jesus Christ?
