It Is Finished!

      Palm Sunday!  Our year is streaking by, isn’t it?  Well, for the last several weeks, we have been looking at the seven sayings of Christ spoken from the cross of Calvary.  Today is the sixth saying.  However, let us review the 5 other sayings we have dealt with thus far.

·        Father, forgive them.

·        Today, thou shalt be with Me in Paradise.

·        Woman, behold your Son.

·        My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?

·        I thirst.

·        And today’s saying – It is finished.

Some scholars believe that this saying was merely an expression of Jesus as He reached the end of His sawdust trail.  Hardly.  He had come to the climax of the plan of God and I believe He was uttering not a wail of despair, but a shout of triumph.  What caused Him to speak such a phrase?
