Help! I Need Somebody!
Psalms 121:1-2

Well, today, believe it or not we are going to look at the subject of help.  Help is something that we all need and we all need to know where the source of help is to be found.  I got the title for our sermon today from the old Beatles classic, Help! Some of you may still know some of the lyrics, “Help! I need somebody, Help! Not just anybody, Help! You know I need someone, Help!

If you will look at our text this morning, it gives us some insight into where to look for help that will be not only beneficial, but a lasting and on-going help.  Read it with me if you would please.  (read) He reports that he will lift his eyes to the hills and then asks the question, from whence cometh my help?  A standard obvious question and he provides his own answer.  “My help cometh from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”  I think it paramount that we as believers understand that we don’t have all the answers.  We are finite beings.  We are created by the greatest mind ever known, we are an intricate creation of God.  And as such we are limited as to what to do at times, or what to say or where to find help.  There are some things that we experience in life which has no earthly answer and no earthly help.  Thus we are in need a miracle.  The Psalmist expresses the action here of looking to the hills.  I really think he has in mind here the Holy Hills of Heaven.
