God's Way of Building His Kingdom

The Great Commission is God’s plan of action for every believer and every church.  This command is given to everyone until Christ comes back and “no man can work no more.”  Today we focus on WMU, our Women’s Missionary Union.  This group has, for many years, carried the torch of missions support and education when no other organization would do so.

However, missions is more than just a group getting together and talking about missionaries.  Missions is more than just making sure we raise money for our missionaries.  Missions is following the command of Christ to take the Gospel to a world out there that does not know Jesus Christ as Savior.  WMU is one arm of the missions education system of our church and the Southern Baptist Convention that enables women, men and children to get involved in the missionary mandate of Christ.

God has expressed His will to us in His Word and believers express God’s Word through their witness.  Dr. Gene Mims, former vice president of the church resources division of LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention, has written a book entitled, Kingdom Principles for Church Growth,  Nashville: LifeWay Christian Resources, 1994,.  This morning’s message is based on God’s Word and some basic teachings Dr. Mims presents in his book.
