God is With Us

Luke 7:11-17

In Matthew 1:23 it says, “Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel (which means, God with us).”  His arrival into this world was unique—God demonstrated his power over natural law by the virgin birth of Christ.  I want to share with you today about the power and greatness of God in Christ Jesus.  If you have your Bibles with you please turn to the book of Luke, chapter 7 and verse 11 and following. (Read).  Notice verse 16, God has visited his people, what a reaction to the chain of events that had just occurred.  A dead man who was being removed from the home for burial, an only son of a widow restored to life in public in front of perhaps hundreds of eyes, a man pronounced dead, sits up on the burial cart and speaks.  For a moment, place yourself there.  Imagine just how you would react?  How would you feel?  We read in the text that fear seized them.  They were awe struck.  Both his disciples and the great crowd that was with him.  For a moment in time they were fact to face with the resurrection power of the Living God.  It goes on to say that they glorified God.
