God Has Chosen You To Build His House
I Chronicles 28:8-10, 20 King David had a dream. He had planned for years to build the house of the Lord. We have read in the Bible that from his youth the hand of the Lord was upon him. We saw it when he single handedly killed the lion and the bear as a shepherd boy; when he slew the giant, Goliath on the field of battle, when no one else ventured even to try; we saw him through the eye of scripture evading Saul’s quest to kill him and we witnessed his confession of sin and his plea for restoration. God had chosen David. But his plan…God’s plan for him was the dream of a temple and the preparation for a temple, but it was Solomon God had chosen to actually build his house. In our passage this morning we find David instructing his son, Solomon, on the fine points of serving God in preparation for the building of God’s house. Now as I see it, these points of encouragement can and should be taken across the board for home building in our lives personally or in our church lives as members of a local congregation. As I understand it, we need to be about our Father’s business, just as Jesus said. We need to be about building God’s house in our homes and in our churches. That stucco and frame church or that framed house you live in is just a shell, but it is the people of God who make up the house of God: the church and it is your family that make up the house of God in your home.
