Always Proclaim Luke 4:16-21 We come to a passage of scripture today on this third Sunday of Advent that really deals with the heart of the matter concerning the gospel. And that is its proclamation. Jesus arrives at the synagogue in Nazareth where he is handed the scroll of Isaiah and he begins to read from chapter 61:1-2. Having read this passage he tells the people in attendance that "today this passage has been fulfilled in your ears."
The spirit of Advent begs the question: why are we not proclaiming Christ
more and more since we anticipate his soon return? The gospel is just
that: good news to those who are in need of salvation and the scripture is
very clear in presenting the established fact that all of mankind is sinful
and in need of a Savior. Jesus came declaring God to us. He must
continually be proclaimed to those whom we come in contact with on a
daily basis.
